The Beverly Fire Department has three specially trained Public Information Officers. Captain Peter O’Connor and Lieutenant Paul Rideout. Both joined the Beverly Fire Department in 1998 and developed the PIO office at the request of Chief Pierce in 2001. Firefighter Brian Latulippe recently attended PIO training at the MEMA Headquarters in Framingham. The Public Information Officer’s primary duty is to disseminate information at the scene of an incident so that the Officer In Charge is free to focus more clearly on the incident.
The Public Information Office also relates information regarding upcoming department events and seasonal safety tips to local media resources.
